The failure modes are moisture pickup, sticker stain and warping: all of which are prevented by dunnage, airflow and grade-appropriate cover.

Paying for indoor space for treated construction lumber wastes money; putting engineered wood in an open yard creates claims.
- Indoor: engineered wood, millwork, appearance and finished grades.
- Covered: kiln-dried dimensional lumber held for weeks or months.
- Open yard: treated and construction-grade with sound wraps and dunnage.
Handling practices that matter
Keep units banded, keep wraps intact, stack to consistent heights on level ground, and use enough dunnage to keep the bottom course clear of slab or ground moisture. Inspect wraps on arrival: ocean transit damages them more often than importers expect.
